ITC-FSAN is a unique training facility that is a testimony for an international collaborative effort exemplifying the importance of partnerships and collaborations. The center is established through an alliance between food regulatory bodies of India viz, Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAl) and Export Inspection Council (EIC) and Global Food Safety Partnership (GFSP), an initiative of the World Bank. The alliance marks the coming together of prominent stakeholders with a purpose to ensure global safety and nutritional quality of food in the supply chain.
The valedictory session was held for two long-term regulatory training programs conducted by ITCFSAN. A training session on Understanding Food Regulations Of India a 4 months long session, a certificate course conducted from 1st September 2021 till 22nd December 2021, through online mode. The training session primarily aimed at making the food regulatory and quality personnel familiar with all the FSS Regulations as per latest amendments and providing detailed knowledge of Food Safety and Standard Act, 2006. The second training session was on Food Import Regulations Of India, an eight weeks session, a certificate course conducted from 8th October 2021 till 17th December 2021, through online mode. The program aimed at developing competence in the food import ecosystem in FSS Import Regulations and generating ease in importing & clearance activities. The program facilitated the participants with the opportunity to understand the jungle & maze of Indian food regulations & legislations & gaining insightful knowledge about how to fill out the documents, self-declarations and issuing certificates as required through the FICS.
The training methodology was interactive as the trainers ensured that knowledge was not only disseminated but accurately perceived and understood by the participants. The trainers engaged participants in discussions and kept the forum open for feedback, queries and suggestions. Several activities were conducted in order to assess the level of learning achieved and the impact of this training session.
The valedictory session for successful completion of the training programs was held on 9th February 2022. The session was formally initiated by a welcome address delivered by Ms. Pritee Chaudary, IRS, Regional Director FSSAI WR and course convenor for the said long-term regulatory courses. She warmly thanked all the participants and acknowledged the contributions made by the faculty and thanked them for their valuable guidance throughout the session.
Ms. Inoshi Sharma, Executive Director FSSAI and the chief guest for the program, congratulated the ITCFSAN team for the success of this three-month training program, she also addressed and thanked all the regional directors and juries for their valuable presence during the session. She congratulated the participants on the successful completion of this training course and hoped that the knowledge gained would help the implementing partners in the effective and efficient implementation of the activities.
Shri. Muthumaran P, Regional Director, FSSAI SR congratulated the Director of ITCFSAN Ms. Shubhaprada Nishtala and Ms. Pritee Chaudary (IRS), Regional Director FSSAI WR for achieving a significant milestone of successful completion of the program. He also congratulated the participants. Col. Pramod Dahitule, Regional Director FSSAI E & NE acknowledged the unique attempt of conducting training programs about regulation which is a backbone of food safety implementation issues. He addressed the importance of the enriching content of the program. He congratulated the participants and wished them a bright career in food safety. Shri. Rajesh Singh, Regional Director, FSSAI NR congratulated the Director of ITCFSAN Ms. Shubhaprada Nishtala and Ms. Pritee Chaudary (IRS), Regional Director FSSAI WR for formulating a unique and innovative program and addressed how the course will enhance the knowledge and awareness of food safety regulators and policies that assure the safe and wholesome food for all. He also addressed that such capacity building programs are testimony to the fact that our country is undergoing major transformation as far as food safety is concerned, he congratulated the participants while concluding his speech. Dr. Prabodh Halde, CAC Member, FSSAI, congratulated the ITCFSAN team and participants and acknowledged the valuable contributions made by the faculty.
At the end of the session some special contributions were recognized in the form of awards for various categories. Acknowledgment for special contributions, awards for best faculty in various categories were given. The event was followed by felicitation of participants who excelled academically in the assessments conducted.
In the Closing ceremony of the valedictory session led by Mr. Irmia Katamgari, Asst. Director (Tech) FSSAI, he concluded the session with a note of thanks. He thanked the participants for their active participation in the training & congratulated the participants for the successful completion of this training course. He thanked honorable faculty for their excellent contribution in making the program successful.
